The RapBall Tossing Game - great popularity in Australian Aged Care Centres:
RapBall is now being used and enjoyed as a recreational activity at over 120 Aged Care City and Regional Facilities in South Australia. Now getting more & more interest from all other Australian States. It is proving to be a very popular resource with Diversion Therapists, Lifestyle Co-ordinators and with the many hundreds of residents. It is not only a form of gentle exercise, but enhances senior peoples hand-eye coordination and can be played standing or sitting.
Here are some comments from Diversional Therapists / Lifestyle Coordinators
"Allambie Aged Care Facility run Fun and Movement Classes for a group of appriximately 15 residents 4 days a week. RapBall is a fun way for staff to end the exercise class and at the same time engage residents in a quick and easy competetive tossing game.
The simple nature of RapBall means there are no barriers to anyone wanting to give it a go - and believe me, they all want to 'give it a go!' We use RapBall at least twice a week. Being lightweight and portable, RapBall is ideal for inclusion in our exercise program." Linda Gissing; Lifestyle Coordinator, Eldercare - Allambi
“We have used RapBall a number of times here on site and found it provides a welcome alternative
in exercise groups. Residents are able to stand, or sit in chairs, wheelchairs, fallout chairs to ‘flip’
the Soft-Rapballs. This provides the opportunity to promote easy move exercise, dexterity and
coordination. RapBall has been used successfully in small group activities for entertainment with
competition being the basis, with the benefits of exercise too. All in all a welcome piece of
equipment in an Activities Coordinator’s Arsenal.”
